Birdcage – Resurrection

Everyone’s heard of the Birdcage pub on the infamous Columbia Road, with its beautiful tiled facade and its tales of Olde London wrapped up within its walls. In the 1600s it was the only building standing, a humble wooden shack believed to have been a public house even back then and later it became the backdrop to some of the sordid events of the gruesome Body Snatchers. Over the last few years the pub had taken a real beating and as a result had never looked more sorry for itself. In October this year Draft House gave Relic Interiors the task of resurrecting this historic pub by restoring and rethinking its interior and facade making it once again the beating heart of Columbia Road.

The doors to the Birdcage are now wide open!

The Grafton – “A Perfect Reinvention”

September saw the opening of The Grafton in Kentish Town and finally we have the photos! Our brief was to design an authentic, unpretentious old boozer and that is exactly what we did. It warms my cockles every time we walk through the doors, it really is everything we had hoped it would be and more. It was an Interior Design project that was a real pleasure from beginning to end owing largely to the fact that our clients Susie and Joel were so refreshingly full of enthusiasm, inspiration and ambition for their newly acquired pub.

“Its the perfect reinvention, we think, in that its Victorian elegance has been restored – or rather, reimagined – whilst allowing a sense of history to pervade in its candle-lit corners. And there’s not a pretension in sight.”The Kentish Towner

I couldn’t have put it better myself……..Here are the pics

The Grafton – Launch Party

Make your way down to Kentish Town for the Grand opening of the Grafton. We can barely contain our excitement!!!

See you there!

The Grafton – Work in Progress part 2

Its coming together really beautifully now, tiling almost complete, decorating finished, lighting installed!

Heres a sneaky preview of some of the ingredients that will without a doubt make this grand pub a winning recipe!

The Grafton NW5 – Work in Progress!

We are enjoying every minute of working on this pub refurbishment; The Grafton NW5 , Kentish Town which will be opening its doors late summer 2012 and we can’t wait!

Its a beautiful, proud corner building which over the years has been boxed in, painted over and mistreated. Our ambition is to uncover, reinstate and emphasize all its beautiful features of which there are many. We aim to bring this wonderful pub interior back to its former glory and in doing so we will be creating a beautiful, inviting space ready to be cherished and adored by all who walk through its doors.

We’ll keep you posted on its progress!
